Bulikov is a peculiar city: once city of the gods, now capital of an oppressed State, where seeds of rebellion are born. It is right in the middle of one rebellious plan, that Ambassador Shara, come from Saypur to investigate the death of an esteemed collegue, finds herself.
The gods should all be dead, killed hundreds of years ago by Saypur's army thanks to a secret and deadly weapon. But things too strange are happening, and Shara suspects some god must still be around, and the rebels are trying to bring them back. If they succeded, Bulikov and the Continent would once again reign, and Saypur would be back to the enslaved state it used to be in before the war. Shara will put to a good use all her unique knowledge of the divine, to unravel the mystery and save the day, so that peace can finally be made between the two States.
An adventurous story and a complex setting, I just think that the relationships between the characters were somewhat poor, and the questions were answered all at once, which I personally don't really appreciate.

Bulikov è una città molto particolare: un tempo regno degli dei, oggi capitale di uno Stato oppresso, in cui germogliano i semi della ribellione. È proprio nel bel mezzo di uno di questi piani, che si ritrova l'ambasciatrice Shara, arivata da Saypur per investigare la morte di un suo stimato collega.
Gli dei dovrebbero essere tutti morti, uccisi centinaia di anni fa dall'esercito di Saypur grazie a una misteriosa arma letale. Stanno però accadendo cose troppo strane, e Shara sospetta che uno o più dei siano in realtà sopravvissuti, e che i ribelli stiano tramando per riportarli al potere. Se dovessero riuscire nell'impresa, Bulikov e il Continente ritroverebbero la supremazia, e Saypur precipiterebbe nello stato di schiavitù in cui si trovava prima della guerra. Shara farà buon uso della sua conoscenza unica del divino per sbrogliare il mistero ed evitare un nuovo conflitto, affinché i due Stati possano finalmente avere la possibilità di convivere pacificamente.
Una storia avventurosa e un'ambientazione complessa, penso solo che la relazione tra i vari personaggi sia carente, e personalmente non apprezzo che i dubbi sollevati vengano risolti pressoché tutti in una volta.
